The Bullnose Tile Natural Stone Reserve

Natural stone has been used for thousands of years.  It is coveted for its durability, versatility and beauty.  Quality stone ages like a fine wine with a soft, dignified grace, developing a patina over the years.

The stone blocks are cut and finished according to our specifications. We carry a range of colours, sizes and finishes. The collection is continually evolving as new ideas are developed and new quarries are unearthed.

Travertine, marble and limestone are products of nature.  Consequently, they will exhibit colour variation, veining and crystal formation.  These characteristics are what give natural stone its vitality and charm.

LIMESTONE is a sedimentary rock composed primarily of the mineral calcite from the shells left by marine organisms. A characteristic of limestone is the presence of fossils from very old sea shells.

TRAVERTINE is essentially a limestone that has crystallized through the addition of heat and pressure.  It actually contains pockets of crystals that give the stone vitality. Travertine has been used as a building stone for thousands of years. The Roman colosseum and the Getty museum were both constructed of travertine.

MARBLE was also formed through the metamorphoses of limestone through heat, pressure and mineralization. Marble is characterized by swirls and veins of colour which were derived from the presence of clay, silt, sand or iron oxide that were present in the limestone. The material is prized by designers and sculptors for its strength and the way it captures light.  White marble is the result of the metamorphoses of pure white limestone.

INSTALLATION is best handled by an experienced tile setter.  We recommend a grout colour similar to the stone selected.  When in doubt, test the grout on a spare piece first.

SEALING of the stone and grout is done 3-4 days after the grouting has been completed.  We recommend using Aquamix Sealer’s Choice Gold or Ultra Solve.  Both of these will not alter the colour of the stone.  If a deeper colour is desired, then Aquamix Enrich ‘N Seal is recommended. If you are unsure which type you prefer, test some pieces before sealing the entire area.

MAINTENANCE is easy and basic.  Sweep, use a damp mop or sponge moistened with Aquamix Concentrated Tile Cleaner and water.  Put your feet up and enjoy!
